Typically humans believe that by repeating the same workout an indefinite amount of times with slow increments they will be able to increase strength and power. This training is indeed useful and will slowly give you results but if you are looking for some real increase in power this may not be enough. To obtain results that almost seem inhumane professional trainer Michael Ryan (who was Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine" sculptor) explains the effects of varying the technique and methods of working out.
He explains that by changing simple things such as a grip on one exercise, the angle, the speed of a repetition or the rest period between each set, one can achieve phenomenal results (you probably wont be as strong as wolverine...). Trainer Michael Ryan's favorite technique - changing the rest period between each set is indisputably a method that reveals fast results. Combining this with heavy weights is bound for the road of success. By lifting a weight close to one rep max and then dropping the weight for 30seconds and repeating for 6 reps (power lifting) will definitely provide shock to your muscles.
Also, you'll notice that by changing the technique in which an exercise is carried out in, will provide shock to various and different muscles throughout the body, ensuring that muscles stay proportionally even and most importantly ensuring that all muscles are given a chance to grow.
